Here you see my groups first takes on our first filming day for the preliminary task.
In the first take Aaron who is acting as a teacher in our preliminary task walks through the door we we wasn't very happy with the camera angle as we think it gave the audience too much space to look at instead of focusing on our character so we wanting to zoom in a little getting more of Aaron and giving people less space to look at instead.
In the second take Aaron had thought he had made an instant mistake when entering the room. So this will not be `in our video and will be cut out completely as a blooper.
Although in the first shot we wasn't happy with the camera angle we came up with the idea of doing and action match with him in the first shot and a closer shot so we focused on getting the actions and the scripting right in the second shot however we think he had said the wrong lines and opened the door in the 3rd take so we had a 4th take of him doing it correctly and was happy with this.
We then wanting to use a panning shot close up on his feet as he walked down the hallway. We achieved this by putting the camera on a skateboard and pushed it along. However the skateboard creating alot of vibration and caused to camera to move and caused it to go out of focus. The noise of the skateboard was also really loud so we where aware that we would have to overlap this scene with a soundtrack or edited diagetic sound of footsteps. We also found it difficult to get the timing right of finding the right speed to roll the skateboard and getting Aaron to walk with the camera at a reasonable speed. We also find that Aaron's foot leaves the frame alot as he continues to walk and i think his foot should always stay in the frame so it is clear it is a main focus point.
We then filmed Aaron walking down the hall twice so we can choose one to use. I prefer the second take as Aaron's facial expressions look more clear and confused which match the situation. We also positioned the camera so we can see the door clearly and it follows the rule of thirds so it is clear to the audience that it is a main focus point.
From the first shots of Aaron entering the room we wanted to do an action match with a shot of him opening the door from the outside and then him entering the room from the inside so we offer two perspectives and points of view to the audience. So we did a big close up on Aaron's hand as he pushed open the door. In the first take we think he opened the door too slow so we asked him to do it two more times so we can decide which one out of the two matches the speed of when he first enters the room in the first shots. This is also an over the shoulder shot. This will make our audience feel more involved with the situation and add tension to the action.
