codes and coventions of marvel action films.

In marvel films we can see iconic and recognisable layouts, angles used and atmosphere. In Marvel films they all have a good guy/guys and a bad guys/guys. they story line always end up that these two forces wi9ll clash and some sort of war or fight will take place that is full of action and will use traditional fight scenes and adapt them. For example in the avengers we see that iron man treats himself as some sort of distraction/decoy to distract the alien race so he can help destroy them. Also included in the plot will be some sort of disagreement between the good characters to show the tension and the stress that they are taking out on each other or in some cases take out on themselves. In marvel action films rolling shots and Crane shots are most likely used to give the audience that sense of movement and being involved with the action and making the scenes look dramatic and busy. Iconic scenes could be used which trigger some sort of memory to create more of a connection with audience for example when hulk catches iron man from falling and scrapes down the building it reminded me of that king Kong sort of feel as the hulk - this big ugly monster who is misunderstood, saves iron man who in this scene acts as a damsel in distress. Of course! Cant forget that. Action films will nearly always have a damsel in distress it makes the movie interesting by giving the good guys something to fight for and adds another symbolic iconic character to the film. For example in spider man on more than one occasion does he have to save Mary Jane from some evil villain/ plot. I think that low key lighting is often used to firstly introduce the evil character to make it directly clear that they are the bad guy and gives us a real sense and definition of good/evil. The good guys normally have a scene where they will be filmed from a low angle to make them look high and mighty and very powerful 'good conquers evil' sort of feel that they are the ultimate. I like marvel action films because there audience are anything from children to adults and its something everyone can watch. They make this possible by having some sort of modern props and fancy language used that maybe younger kids don't understand however the general storyline is always recognisable and easy to understand as a general action film. I think that quick transitions are also often used in action films as other transition may be too slow for the supposedly panicky and energetic atmosphere they are trying to create. Marvel never do anything by half. They always put everything into there films to give it the wow factor and give it that power and that is why they are extremely popular with the public.

Action is one of the genres i would like to go into and base my film opening on as i think we could experiment more with the camera creating tense and action packed movements and angles and also create a creative plot.
