The Egyptians created a device that dates to c.1500 BC. This measured the passage of time from the shadow cast by its crossbar on to a platform which had different times on.This was the first ever sun dial. The T was posistioned eastward in the mornings and at noon it was turned around so that it could cast its shadow in the evening direction. The most precise timekeeping device of the ancient world was the water clock, or clepsydra, this was found in the tomb of Egyptian pharaoh Amenhotep I (1525–1504 BC). They could be used to measure the hours even at night, but required manual upkeep to keep the flow of water going and the device working. The Eygptians were basically the first to create an efficiant way of keeping and measuring time.
Because the egyptions had such an input of the development on time measurment and creating devices which keep track of time we thought we would use this as a platform to kick start us off on names for our hero and villain. We looked into god names that the Egyptians used.
Ma'at is the godess of justice and order. This stood out to us as stereotypically the hero brings justice to the people of the city and keeps things in order so there is no chaos. We wanted to simplify the name however to reflect his normaly average life and personality. So we decided to call our hero Matt.
Apophis is the god of war and choas. We did have difficulty simplifying his name into a normal average everday name. So we decided that the closest we could get was peter.
